MA Group builds swimming pools as part of the main contract rather than as a separate trade package — structure, waterproofing, finishes, filtration and circulation plant, lighting, decking and the landscape around it, all under one accountable party.
A reinforced concrete shell, tanking and waterproofing, screeds and levels, tiling and coping, then the filtration, circulation and dosing plant with a plant room to house it, underwater lighting, and the decking and landscape around the pool. Each stage is inspected before the next covers it.
Because a pool touches the structure, the waterproofing, the drainage, the electrical design and the landscape. Bought in as a separate package it creates five interfaces where responsibility can be disputed. Inside the main contract there is one programme and one party answerable for the result.
The shell is tanked and movement joints are detailed and sealed, then the pool is filled and pressure-tested and the level monitored before any finish goes on. Testing before tiling is the step that gets skipped when a programme is under pressure, and it is the one that causes the failures.
Water balance and dosing checks, filter cleaning and media replacement, pump and circulation servicing, and periodic inspection of tiling, grout and movement joints. This can run under our maintenance licence on the same planned schedule as the rest of the building.
